Mr. Johnny Ray Donegan, age 66, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Heritage Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Fairlane Church of Christ.  Geoff Giesemann, Russ Countess, and Ron DeWitt will officiate.  Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. 

Visitation will be 3-8 PM Friday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. 

He was born April 22, 1944, in Bedford County, to the late J.C. and Bertie Mae Rollins Donegan.  He was retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation, a former member of the Shelbyville Kiwanis Club, and a supporter of the Boys and Girls Club.  He was greatly involved in many charitable works, especially those involving children.  He was a former member of the Tennessee National Guard and a faithful member of Fairlane Church of Christ. 

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Delores Sissom Donegan, of Shelbyville; a daughter, Angie Crosslin, ,and her husband Marty, of Shelbyville; a brother, Roger Donegan, and his wife Claudia; two sisters, Patricia Parker, and her husband Sam, and Brenda Wright, and her husband Clark, all of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Maddie Crosslin and Zach Crosslin.

Mr. Jon Morton Chick, age 72, of Shelbyville, died Friday, November 5, 2010, at Heritage Medical Center.

He was born May 18, 1938, in Metropolis, Illinois, to the late Morton L. and Mary Alice Baker Chick. He was the retired owner/operator of a fabric store in Arizona for over 40 years.  He was the youngest member of the Chamber of Commerce at age 19 at the time, and a member of El Bethel Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Connie Wacht Chick, of Shelbyville; a daughter, Cheryl Clark, and her husband Matthew, of Shelbyville, and a son, Jon Chick, and his wife Lisa, of Shelbyville; three sisters, Mary Agnes Hornbaker, of Tempe, Arizona, Katherine Stewart, and her husband Bill, of Prescott, Arizona, and Judy McDonald, and her husband Richard, of Richardson, Texas; five granddaughters, Sara Nicole Sudberry, and her husband Chance, Julie Ann Chick, Chelby Lynn Clark, Christina Marie Chick, and Megan Leanne Clark.

Sarah Calvin Pearson Lewis

 A native of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Mrs. Lewis, 91, was raised on Jersey Dale Farm, the daughter of the late Charles Newton Pearson and Ethel Reagor Pearson.   She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Holliday Lewis, son, Charles Sumner Lewis and sister, Zadie Pearson Foster.

 An alumna of Milligan College, Mrs. Lewis was a member of the First Christian Church, where she served as a Deaconess, taught a Sunday School class for several years.  She was an active supporter of the Boys Scouts of America and a member of the National Society of Magna Charta Dames, Shelbyville Woman’s Club and the Riverbend Country Club. 

Mrs. Lewis is survived by two sons, John Holliday Lewis, Jr. and wife, Carol, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Calvin Pearson Lewis and wife, Mary, of Nashville, Tennessee,  a grandson, Charles Sumner Lewis II, and granddaughter, Mary Caroline Lewis, also of Nashville.

 Other survivors include a sister, Frances Pearson Alexander, and two nephews, Charles Pearson Alexander and wife, Cathy, of New York, New York, and William Brent Alexander and wife, Nancy, of Knoxville, Tennessee. 

She was an avid lover of the 3-gaited and 5-gaited ponies and walking horses, having ridden in the first Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in Shelbyville in 1939. Her favorite horses, such as the 3-gaited mount, Peavines Roan King,  and walking horse, Rainbow Allen, were sold to prominent riders throughout the south.  

Pallbearers are Brent Alexander, John Stone, John Orman,  William Cooper,  John Pitts, Lee Woosley and Andrew Woosley.  Visitation will be held at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel in Shelbyville on Tuesday, November 9 from 5-8:00 PM.  The funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 10 at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Shelbyville with Pastor Bryan Elliot officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, PO Box 466, Shelbyville,TN 37160.

Mr. Kenneth Vernon Armstrong, age 69, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, formerly of Shelbyville, died Sunday, November 14, 2010, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

He was born July 5, 1941, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to the late Herman Pleas Dodson and Helen Ruth Armstrong.  He was retired from the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War, and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Powell Armstrong.

He was born April 3, 1942, in Bedford County, to the late Joseph and Mayme Hart Wilhoite.  He was retired salesman for Bedford CO-OP, a part time farmer, and longtime member of the Bedford County Emergency Management Board.  He was of the Baptist Faith.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Stewart Wilhoite, of Shelbyville; two daughters, Emily Wilhoite Dutton-Trott, and her husband Mark, of Murfreesboro, and Dianne Wilhoite Carpenter, of Shelbyville; a son, D.J. Wilhoite, and his wife Michelle, of Portland, Tennessee; two brothers, Hulan Wilhoite, and his wife Lorene, of Unionville, and Vernon Wilhoite, and his wife Martha, of Shelbyville; two sisters, Lorene Leebrick, and her husband Art, of Shelbyville, and Marie Chilton, and her husband James, of Mt. Mr. Alvis A. Wright, age 84, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

He was born June 12, 1926, in Bedford County, to the late Roy Preston and Annie Belle Cook Wright.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II.  He was retired from Eaton Corporation, enjoyed being a hobby farmer, and held membership in Edgemont Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Avery Wright. 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Madie Herron Wright, of Shelbyville; a daughter, Janice Holloway, of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, Eric Holloway, and his wife Catherine, and Todd Holloway, and his wife Connie; two great grandchildren, Zachary Holloway and Taylor Holloway.

Mrs. Frances Eleanor Lamb Rutledge, age 94, of Normandy, died Thursday, November 25, 2010, at Glen Oaks Convalescent Center.

She was born January 29, 1916, in Gladwin, Michigan, to the late Arthur and Maude Cross Lamb.  She was preceded in death by her husband George Rutledge in 2000. 

She is survived by two daughters, Vicky Merrill and Sandy Rutledge, both of Normandy; a son, Gene A. Rutledge, of Gladwin, Michigan; five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard “Shorty” Vannatta, in 1992, a sister, Margaret Hart, and a brother William Thomas Craig. 

She is survived by two sons, Ron Vannatta, and his wife Bette, and Roger Vannatta, both of Shelbyville;  two grandchildren, Jennifer Hall, and her husband Scott, of Murfreesboro, and Melissa Keck, and her husband Logan, of Boston, Massachusetts; two great grandchildren, Preston hall and Ruby Keck.
