He was born August 17, 1951, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, to Kato Frazier Skelton, of Wartrace, and the late William Howard Skelton, Sr. He worked on an off shore oil rig.

She was born February 21, 1926 in Normandy, to the late Walter Bearden and Lena Susie Bond Troxler. She was founding member of the Shelbyville Garden Club, and a Past President. She was a life Member of the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs. She held membership in the National Garden Club and was an Accredited Master Judge for District II, a past district II Board Member. In 2002, she was the recipient of the “Good Citizen Award” from the Shelbyville Bedford County Chamber of Commerce. She was an active member of the Circle 4 at First United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Carl Stubblefield and a grandson, Robin Hall.
She is survived by, two daughters, Carla Hall, and her husband Robert, of Murfreesboro, and Amy Cathey, and her husband Marty, of Paris, Tennessee; a son, Dr. Mark Stubblefield, and his wife Shirley, of Franklin, Tennessee; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Troxler; eight grandchildren, Stefan Hall, and his wife Sarah, Daniel Cathey, Matthew Cathey, Sarah Elizabeth Cathey, Luke Stubblefield, Samuel Stubblefield, Leah Stubblefield, and Aaron Stubblefield.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wilson.

BETTY IRIS ADAMS TILLETT

Mrs. Betty Adams Tillett, age 81, died Friday, May 7, in Shelbyville, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Hoyte Adams, Sr., and Lucille Jackson Adams Waters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 year, Gerald Tillett, Jr., and brother, Hoyte Adams, Jr.
Except when traveling with her husband for his business, Mrs. Tillett lived in Shelbyville from birth until her parting. She graduated from Central High School in 1946 and attended Tennessee Tech. She joined First Baptist Church of Shelbyville at age 12 and remained a member throughout her life.
While her children were young, Mrs. Tillett devoted her time to their activities. Later, her successful career as a businesswoman spanned over 30 years as owner of Accents Gift Shops in Shelbyville and Tullahoma, TN. She was known and loved for her gracious kindness in her business, social and family life.
Mrs. Tillett is survived by her brother Robert D. Adams and wife Lou Anne of Ocala, FL; son Gerald Tillett, Jr., and wife Marikay of Huntsville, AL; daughter Barbara Lynn Cooke and husband Phil of Shelbyville; special niece Judy Tillett Young and husband Ronal of Bell Buckle, TN; and sister-in-law Agnes Adams of Tullahoma, TN.
Her grandchildren include Julie Turner and husband John; Caroline Roeber and husband Dana; and Cary Cooke. Step-grandchildren are Evan Johnson, Lauren Coffelt and husband Wes. Mrs. Tillett’s great-grandchildren are Katherine and Abigail Turner; Ireland and Leyton Roeber; Ridge Timmers and Ashlynn Cooke; and step-great-grandchildren Marissa and Weston Coffelt. She also has other surviving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel in Shelbyville, TN. Memorial service will be at Feldhaus Chapel on Tuesday, May 11, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Bobby McGee and Dr. Kevin Minchey officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

He was born September 25, 1921, in Winchester Springs, to the late George Floyd and Mary Ivey Majors. He was a Master Barber with over 41 years operating as Majors Ideal Barber. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and attended Moore Barber College in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a Lifetime Member of the Shelbyville Lions Club, having served as President, and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Good Fellow Award. He was an active and faithful member of Southside Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Michelle Majors.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Grace Powell Majors, of Shelbyville; two sons, Marc Majors, of Shelbyville, and Bruce Majors, of Washington, DC; two sisters, Nell Yates and Ruby Hobbs, both of Tullahoma.

He was born October 9, 1922, in Bedford County, to the late Hugh Gaston and Sue Russell Stowers, Sr. He was a retired machinist from Stanley Tool and loved to farm. After graduation from high school, Chuck volunteered for the U.S. Army and served from 1942-1946, in the Army Transport Command. He participated in D-day at Omaha Beach. He and Nancy visited Normandy Beaches a few years ago. He was an active and faithful member of First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hastings Stowers in 2007. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Franklin, “Pedlo” Stowers.
He is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Stowers, of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Prince, of Shelbyville; nieces and nephews, Sam Hastings, and his wife Judy, of DeKalb, Illinois, Marilyn Lewis, and her husband Dan, of Shelbyville, and Bobby Prince, and his wife Welmoet, of Amsterdam, Holland.

He was a retired cutter for Fly Manufacturing after 32 ½ years of service and 7 years with Calsonic. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Korea. He was a faithful member of Edgemont Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Grady B. Smotherman, Curtis “Dago” Smotherman, Ralph Smotherman, and Randolph Smotherman, and a sister, Ruth Rowland.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church Depot Street where taught Sunday school and was a choir member for 55 years. She was also a devoted member of the Community Bible Study.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John O. Patterson, of Shelbyville; a son, Brent Patterson, and his wife Fay, of Shelbyville, and a daughter Linda Patterson, of Lebanon; two brothers, Bill Dowdy, and his wife Katherine, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, and Don Dowdy, and his wife Carolyn, of Ringgold, Georgia; several nieces and nephews.

He was born November 3, 1927, in Bedford County, Tennessee, to the late DeMarcus Brock and Ela Reagor Hix. He was retired from Eaton Corporation, was an active member of Fair Haven Baptist Church and served in the Army as a member of the signal Corps. He was a master furniture craftsman and made furniture for many area churches. He was also an avid trout fisherman and farmed for many years in the Flat Creek community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vestas Mai Hasty and one brother, Bobby Dodd Hix, of Shelbyville.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sanders Lovvorn Hix, of Shelbyville; a son, Billy Hix, of Shelbyville, and a daughter Carol Hix McGee, of Flat Creek; one brother, Frank Hix, of Shelbyville; four step sons, Dale Lovvorn, Steve Lovvorn, Mike Lovvorn, and Dennis Lovvorn; one step daughter, Melissa Barrett; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She also attended many baseball games when her son David played. She was retired from Empire Pencil Company and a member of First Christian Church.

She was employed with Musgrave Pencil Company for many years, and also, with her husband George, owned Tune’s Union 76 Service Station. She had the Greyhound Bus and Trailways Bus Stations, and the U-Haul Rental Business. She was a member of the Bedford County Commission for many years and served on the Hospital Board and the Law Enforcement
and Workhouse Committee. She was very dedicated to the Bedford County Medical Center and Nursing Home. She was a member of Edgemont Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George V. Tune, in 1987.
She is survived by a son, Keith Tune, and his wife Terri, of Shelbyville; four daughters, Vickie Spivey, and her husband Wade, Kaye Reynolds, and her husband Bert, Menza Cantrell, and her husband Brian, and Vanessa Vincent, and her husband Jonathan, all of Shelbyville; two step daughters, Janice Parsons and Debbie stone, and her husband David, both of Shelbyville; two sisters, Naomi Finley, and her husband Lawrence, of Shelbyville, and Ann Rollins, of Woodbury; sixteen grandchildren, Adam tune, Lindsey Sartain, and her husband Rusty, Bo Spivey, George Benjamin Spivey, Amy Allen, and her husband Amp, Matt Reynolds, Daniel Dye, David Dye, Amber Cantrell, Brandon Cantrell, Alayne Saylor, Menley Saylor, Jarrett Vincent, Thesa Saylor, and her husband Tim, Jody Stone, and his wife Susan, and Kelly Vincent, and her husband Brad; eight great grandchildren, Cole Tune, Kade Sartain, Shyla Sartain, Gage Allen, Gordon Saylor, Hannah Saylor, Caroline Stone, and Henry Stone.

Mr. Roy “Keith” Rock, age 52, of Wartrace, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro.
Funeral services will be 3 PM Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service Wednesday.
He was born April 18, 1958, in Perryton, Texas, to the late William and Sue Hunter Rock, Jr. He was employed with JR’s Mini Market in Shelbyville for the last five years and worked twenty years in Oilfield Construction.
He is survived by two sisters, Kim Childress, of Wartrace, and Carleigh London, and her husband Jim, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; nieces Chiron Childress and Ashlee London; nephews, Terron Childress, Jarrod London, and Kevin London.
