Fay Lawson Crismon was born September 16, 1923 in Bedford County, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Charlie and Alberta Hodge Crismon. He departed this life on Monday, March 30, 2009.
Fay received his early education at Union Ridge School in Wartrace, Tennessee. He enlisted in the United States Army on April 2, 1943 serving in the Battle of New Guinea, World War II. He was wounded on August 11, 1945 while serving his country; this resulted in the lost his left arm. He received several honors for his service: Purple Heart, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Bronze Battle Star and Good Conduct Medal.
He was united in holy matrimony to his sweetheart, Dorothy Lorraine Crismon on October 16, 1949. This year would have marked their 60 year anniversary. To this union two children were born. One son, Larry James Crismon, Sr, preceded him in death on March 23, 2009. His sister, Charlene (Ma Dear) Green, also preceded him in death on January 15, 2000.
In his early years he attended Union Ridge Church of God in Christ. In his later years, he started fellowshipping with Bright Temple Church of God in Christ. He was a faithful member of the Men’s Sunday School Class until he was unable to attend due to his illness.
Fay Lawson Crismon leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife and caregiver, Dorothy Lorraine Crismon of Shelbyville, Tennessee; son, Frederick Owen (Sharon) Crismon of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Brenda Phillips Crismon of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandsons, Larry James (Carissa) Crismon, II of Memphis, Tennessee and Andrae Phillip Crismon of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; two great-grandsons Joseph Lorenz and Justin Blake Crismon of Memphis, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Margaret (Otto) Watts of Carson, California, nephews; Alton (Valerie) Green of Nashville, Michael Howard of Dayton, Ohio; nieces, Thressia (Dejuan) McClure of San Diego, California, Patricia Green of Nashville, Tennessee, Cardelia (Lonnie) Bender of Mt Juliet, Tennessee, Lois (Reginald) Webster, of Carson, California, Brenda (Danny) Henderson, Riverside, California, Dorlyn Howard, Altdena, California; devoted cousins Eugene (Olivia) Ray, Pamela Kelso, Betty Chunn and family; caregiver, Cathy Jernigan; and a host of cousins and friends.

Mr. Garan A. Maupin, age 25, of Shelbyville, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Monday, March 23, 2009, at Bright Temple Church of God In Christ. Dr. Robin Kimbrough will be eulogist, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.
The body will lie in state Monday from 10 AM until time of service. The family will receive visitors from 11 AM until time of service.
He was born May 15, 1983, in Murfreesboro, to Gary Crumbie and Shelia Maupin, of Shelbyville. He was a 2001 graduate of Shelbyville Central High School. He was presently enrolled in Draughons Jr. College in Nashville and was to graduate at the end of this year. He was also employed with Food Lion as manager of the Dairy Section.
He is survived by his mother, Shelia Maupin, of Shelbyville; a brother, Malik Gates and a sister, Olisha Maupin, both of Shelbyville. Several aunts and uncles and great aunts and uncles and cousins are also left to mourn his passing.

Mr. Billy “Bill” W. Porter, age 66, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Community Care of Rutherford County.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday at Galilee Primitive Baptist Church. Pastor Craig Carmichael will be eulogist, with burial to follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Fayetteville
Visitation will be 5-8 PM Friday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
He was born January 8, 1943, in Lincoln County, to Will A. Porter, of Shelbyville, and the late Audi Lee Green Porter. He was a retired machinist from Eaton Corporation and was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Petersburg.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Irene Pitts Porter, of Shelbyville; a daughter, Cynthia Hamilton, and her husband Harvey, Jr., of Murfreesboro; three brothers, Roger, Ronnie, and Larry Porte, all of Shelbyville; six sisters, Shelia Boleyjack, of Hendersonville, Jo Ann Pitts, of Franklin, Tennessee, Robbie nelson, of Newton, Georgia, Carolyn Porter, Martha Porter, and Marsha Porter, all of Shelbyville; two granddaughters, Alexandra Hamilton and Kayla Hamilton, both of Murfreesboro.

Mr. Gregory Mark Junghans, age 63, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center.
The family will receive visitors 3-5 PM Thursday the Shelbyville Rec Center.
He was born April 29, 1945, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Roderick and Mary Slater Junghans. He had a career in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his parents Roderick and Mary Slater, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; seven children, Theresa Clayton, Tammy Junghans, Jeff Junghans, Heather Junghans, Stuart Junghans, Trevor Junghans, and Sharon Junghans; two sisters, Barbara Johnson and Cathy Atkinson, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Mr. John Dwayne Williams, age 38, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, march 18, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Brother Michael Shannon will officiate, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
He was born March 29, 1970, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, to Jerry W. Williams, of Shelbyville, and the late Judy Cook Williams who passed away March 6, 2009. He was employed with Tyson Foods and worked previously with AutoZone.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his companion, Melissa Rutherford, of Shelbyville; two sisters, Amanda K. Marsh, of Belfast, and Muriel Scroggins, and her husband Toby, of Lynnville; four nieces and nephews, Lucas Joel Marsh, Sabrina Noel marsh, Trey Scroggins, and Jerry Ray Scroggins; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mrs. Katherine L. Kennedy, age 74, of Shelbyville, entered into eternal rest at her home, Monday, March 16, 2009.
Per her request, her remains were cremated. There will be no services. There will be no visitation.
She was born June 2, 1934, in Manchester, to the late William Minus Leatherman and Maxine Virginia Bryan Leatherman. She was retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Workforce Development.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Ramsey Leatherman.
She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Carey Kennedy of Shelbyville; a son, Patrick Kennedy, and his wife Roxanne, of Nashville; two daughters, Katherine Lori Kennedy, of Shelbyville, and Rebecca Fults, and her husband Mark, of McMinnville; an aunt, Linda Gentry, of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Judy Katherina Williams, age 57, of the Wheel Community, died Friday, March 6, 2009, at her home after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Brother Michael Shannon will officiate, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
She was born March 22, 1951, in Bedford County, to the late John A. and Ruth Etheridge Cook. She retired from Cascade School as a teacher’s aide. She was known as “ Mother ” to hundreds of children at Cascade School.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John David Cook.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Jerry W. Williams, of the Wheel Community; a son, John D. Williams, of Shelbyville; two daughters, Amanda K. Marsh, of Lewisburg, and Muriel F. Scroggins, and her husband Toby, of Lynnville, Tennessee; a brother, Carl Wayne Cook, of Shelbyville; five sisters, Shirley Dye, and her husband Glendon, of Shelbyville, Sara Dean, and her husband Joe, of the Flat Creek Community, Agnes Meredith, and her husband Steve, of Shelbyville, Toni Welsh, and her husband Mark, of Shelbyville, and Zedia Fanning, and her husband Billy, of Shelbyville; four grandchildren, Lucas Joel marsh, Sabrina Noel Marsh, Trey Scroggins, and Jerry Ray Scroggins.

Mr. Kenneth Richard Smotherman, age 53, of Shelbyville, died Friday, March 06, 2009, at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.
Memorial services will be 6 PM Tuesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Ralph Thomason will officiate. Per his request, his remaisn were cremated.
Visitation will be 4 PM Tuesday until time of service.
He was born December 16, 1955, in Shelbyville, to Elizabeth Marie Harden Thomason, of Shelbyville, and the late Ellis Richard Smotherman. He was employed with Calsonic before failing health forced him to retire. He attended the Baptist church.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Thomason, and her husband Ralph Greenlee Thomason, of Shelbyville, and three sons, Zachary Neal Smotherman and Peyton James Keith, Tommy McAdams, all of Shelbyville; two daughters, Morgan Taylor Campbell and Tonya King, both of Shelbyville; a brother, Johnny Smotherman, and his wife Karen, of Shelbyville, and two sisters, Debbie Carlene Ferguson and Cynthia Richardson, and her husband Ryan, all of Shelbyville.

Mrs. Helen Cleo Claybourne, age 77, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Scott United Methodist Church. Dr. Robin Kimbrough will be eulogist, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service Saturday at the church.
She was born September 27, 1931, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, to the late Henry B. and Ethel Cleo Ray Hamilton. She was retired from Empire Pencil Company after thirty years of service, and was a faithful member of Scott United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Raymond Hamilton.
She is survived by a son, James Claybourne, of Shelbyville; four grandchildren, Tracey Williams, Kimberley Williams, Tammy Copeland, and Carl Johnson; seven great grandchildren.
