Ruby Katherine Woodard, age 77, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Funeral services will be 12 PM Monday, July 6, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Anthony Booker will be eulogist.  Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to service Monday. 

She was born may 15, 1932, in Bedford County, to the late Irvin and Irene Hall Woodard.  She was a retired housekeeper and member of Bird Street Church of Christ. 

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Woodard in 2007. 

She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Woodard Cole, of Whites Creek, Tennessee, Vannassa Holman, of Shelbyville, and Tamara Woodard, of Nashville; two sons, Darral Woodard and Datari Woodard, both of Shelbyville; two sisters, Lillie Mai Woodard and Margaret Holman, both of Shelbyville; fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Mr. Donald Ray Burks, age 63, of Wartrace, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Bedford County Nursing Home.

Memorial service will be 2 PM Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Trousdale Church of Christ in the Jacksboro Community of Warren County.  Kip Green and Mark Pierce will officiate, with burial to follow in the Trousdale Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service Wednesday at the church.

He was born September 13, 1945, in Warren County, to Zelis Kate Laws Burks, of Tullahoma, and the late Jesse Matt Burks.  He was a minister in the Church of Christ for over forty two years and held membership in Fairfield Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Rose Nash Burks, of Wartrace; three sons, Randall Burks, of Atlanta, Darrell Burks, of Nashville, and Russell Burks, of Wartrace; a daughter, Amanda Michelle, of Wartace; two grandchildren, and a sister, Rebecca Smith, of Manchester.

Mrs. Margaret Katherine McGee Warren, age 82, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.

Graveside service will be 2 PM Friday, July 10, 2009, at Willow Mount Cemetery. Bobby McGee will officiate.

She was born March 22, 1927, in Rutherford County, to the late Marion McGee and Winnie Narron McGee. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Baptist Faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Warren.

She is survived by her sons; William Orr, or Murfreesboro, TN and Roger Dale Orr of Smyrna,TN. Brothers; Bobby McGee of Shelbyville, TN and Doug McGee of Alabama; and one grandchild.

Mr. Greer C. Hendon, age 72, of Goodlettsville, died Monday, July 13, 2009, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. 

Graveside services will be 1 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, Alabama.  Gene Hendon will officiate. 

Visitation will be 10-11 AM Wednesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. 

He was born September 15, 1936, in Decatur, Alabama, to the late Geer E. and Eleanor Chunn Hendon.  He previously worked with Swift trucking Company and retired from J.B. Hunt Trucking. 

He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Oren Hendon. 

He is survived by his companion, Marsha, and a son, Randy and a daughter, Tammy; two brothers, Gene E. Hendon, and his wife Margie, of Nashville, and Herman G. Hendon, and his wife Carol, of Searcy, Arkansas; two sisters, Lila G. Cowell, and her husband Jerry, of Shelbyville, and Nona F. Burke, and her husband Ron, of Ben Wheeler, Texas; several grandchildren.

She was born September 1, 1915, in Little Rock, Arkansas.  She was a homemaker and member of Sevier Street First Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, A. W. Smith, of Shelbyville; three daughters, Helen Whitman, of Mississippi, Sylvia Pypers and Lucinda Pypers, both of New Jersey; five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Mr. James L. “Jimmy” Bearden, Jr. age 92, died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Bedford County Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Rose Bank Cemetery.  Reverend Dr. Lloyd Doyle will officiate.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

He was born June 11, 1917, in Bedford County, to the late James. L. and Mary Lillian Frost Bearden. For many many years, he was Sales Manage for Stewart Potts Motors and later Clarence Lamb Motors. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and served on numerous committees within the church.  He was a Past President of the Kiwanis Club.

He married Mary Pauline “Polly” Alexander on March 16, 1941.  They celebrated 66 years together before her passing in 2007.

He is survived by two daughters, Sheila B. Trolinger and Jeanie B. Phillips, both of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Mary Gay Trolinger Burton, Rod Phillips ,and Molly Phillips Carneal; five great grandchildren, Maggie Burton, Abby Burton, Jake Phillips, Sam Carneal, and Sarah Beth Carneal.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Argie Cooper Library.

Mr. James Robert “Ed” Stewart, age 75, of Bell Buckle, died Monday, July 20, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center. 

Graveside services will be 1 PM Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Caney Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Morrison, Tennessee. 

There will be no visitation.

He was born August 3, 1933, in Rutherford County, to the late Charles Wesley and Lila Bernice Powell Stewart.   He was a self employed painter. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Stewart. 

He is survived by two brothers, Charles Stewart of Shelbyville, and Marvin Stewart, of Fosterville; a sister, Sarah Lokey, of Fosterville; a niece, Sandra Taylor, of Bell Buckle.

Mr. Freddy Paul “Fluff” Swagerty, age 68, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 6 PM Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Elder Ronnie Campbell will be eulogist.

Burial will be 2 PM Sunday, August 2, 2009, in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Newport, Tennessee.

The body will lie in state starting at 3 PM Thursday.

He was born April 17, 1941, in Newport, Tennessee, to the late Luther and Adelaide Possy Swagerty. He was a retired trainer of Tennessee Walking Horses, a huge fan of the Shelbyville Golden Eaglettes and the University of Tennessee. He attended Greater First Baptist Church in Lewisburg

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nellie Cannon Swagerty, of Shelbyville; a daughter, Teresa Swagerty, of Shelbyville, three sons, George Swagerty, of Shelbyville, Craig Swagerty, of Utah, and Mark Swagerty, of Las Vegas, Nevada; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mrs. Edith L. Redd Parker, age 78, of Shelbyville, died Monday, August 3, 2009, at her daughter’s home after an extended illness. 

Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, August 6, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Reverend Dan Reed will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. 

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. 

She was born October 6, 1930, in Bedford County, to the late Garrett and Myrtice Cleek Redd.  She was retired from Empire Pencil (Sanford Corporation) and was a member of Shelbyville Mills Church of Christ. 

She was a wonderful Mom. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Parker in 2007, and a sister, Glendon Frost. 

She is survived four daughters, Cathy Ryan, Carolyn Napper, and her husband Jimmy, Cindy Walker, and her husband Eddie, and Sandra Guffey, and her husband Tommy, all of Shelbyville; two sons, William Calvin Parker, and his wife Billie Marie, and Kevin Eugene Parker, all of Shelbyville; two brothers, Billy Redd of Shelbyville, and John Redd, of Lewisburg; a sister, Iris Bradford, of Shelbyville; eleven grandchildren, Eric Anderson, Chad Napper, Carolee Napper, Ben Parker, Donnie Parker, Jennifer Mathews, Leeann Reid, Michael Walker, and Eddie Walker, Jr; fifteen great grandchildren, Chris Overcast, Lindsey Parker, Alicia Anderson, Caitlyn Napper, Carissa Rutherford, Tyler Parker, Erica Parker, Jessica Parker, Brayden Parker, James Parker, Hannah Mathews, Haley Mathews, Caleb Reid, Ryan Reid, and Ethan Parker; two great great grandchildren, Leah Nichole Guffey and Jayden Hathcock. 

She leaves behind her faithful and devoted companion, “Missy”.
