Mr. James Austin Coop, age 87, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be 1 PM Friday, December 4, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Reverend Ron DeWitt will officiate, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. 

He was born October 24, 1922, in Bedford County, to the late Robert w. and Eva McConnell Coop.  He was construction worker.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Limbo Coop in 1998.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert White Coop and P.G. Coop, and two sisters, Nora Catherine Lowell, and Frances Lawson. 

He is survived by a son, Jimmy Coop, of Manchester; two daughters, Carolyn Coop Miller, and her husband Ervin, of Shelbyville, and Connie Coop Smith, and her husband Rick, of Beech Grove; four grandchildren, Julie Summers, Blaine Smith, Kelley Hall, and Kyle Miller; six great grandchildren, Briley and Brayden Butler, Reese and Addison Smith, and Sara Kate and Slater Hall. 

Memorials may be made to the Sara Coop Children's Center  at First Church of The Nazarene.

Mrs. Margaret Overcast Fox, age 86, of Bell Buckle, died Friday, December 04, 2009, at Celebration Way of Shelbyville Assisted Living.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Hazel Cemetery in Bell Buckle.

Visitation will be 11 AM until service time Saturday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

She was born December 21, 1922, in Christiana, Tennessee, to the late Hiram and Maggie McCollum Overcast.  She was retired from Wal Mart and was a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II.  She attended the Bell Buckle Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fox, a daughter, Patricia Fox, two brothers, J.M. Overcast and Hiram Overcast, Jr. and a sister, Bessie Overcast.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Fox, and his wife Sara, of Bell Buckle, and Bobby Fox, and his wife Lynne, of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Alan Fox, of Bell Buckle, Rebecca Smith, and her husband Kent, of Franklin, and Jessica Fox, of Alcoa, Tennessee; one great grandchild, Booker Fox Smith.

Mr. Thomas Edgar McGee, Jr., age 50, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, December 5, 2009, at NHC HealthCare in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be 12 noon Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Bright Temple Church of God In Christ.  Pastor Larry Crismon, II, will be eulogist, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10AM Wednesday until time of service at the church.

He was born October 27, 1959, in Shelbyville, to Dorothy Trice McGee and the late Thomas Edgar McGee, Sr.  He was engaged in the Horse Industry.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Sheila Danielle McGee, of Smyrna; a brother, Corey McGee, of LaVergne, and a sister, Linda Johnson, and her husband George, of Shelbyville.

Mr. R. K. Thompson, age 91, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at Glen Oaks Convalescent Center. 

Funeral services will be 10 AM Friday, December 18, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Reverend Bryan Elliott will officiate, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. 

Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. 

He was born October 22, 1918, in Bedford County, to the late Robert Kerry Thompson, Sr. and Maggie Moore Thompson.  He was a retired Production Manger with Musgrave Pencil Company with 49 years of service.  He was an avid golfer and 60+ year member of First Christian Church. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenn Collier Thompson. 

Survivors include two brothers, William M. Thompson, and his wife Naomi, and Tip Thompson, and his wife, Becky, all of Shelbyville; a sister, Dorothy Ann Welehon, of Ramona, California; brother in law, Joe Collier, and his wife Imogene, of Mulberry, Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Vernon Dwight Eddins, age 45, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center. 

Memorial services will be 2 PM Saturday, December 19, 2009, at Bellview Missionary Baptist Church.  Pastor Timothy Wright will officiate.  Per his request, his remains were cremated. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to service Saturday at the church. 

He was born July 29, 1964, in Taft, Tennessee, to the late to Evans Eddins, Jr., of Ashland City, and the late Mary Whitaker Evans.  He was a graduate of Coffee County High School and a short order cook.  He was an active member of Bellview Missionary Baptist Church. 

In addition to his father, he is survived by his companion of 23 years, Hattie Southall, of Shelbyville; three brothers, Roger L. Eddins and Venson E. Eddins, both of Nashville, and  Jimmy E. Woodard, of New Hampshire; three sisters, Patricia D. Eddins and Jacqueline Bowers, both of Shelbyville, and Mary Ortiz, of Miami, Florida.

She was born May 8, 1937, in Bedford County, to Nan Cyree Steede, of Shelbyville, and the late J.D. Steede.  She was a retired secretary engaged in the nursery industry.  She was a member of Fairlane Church of Christ.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles H. Carey, of the Prospect Community of Giles County; a son, Michael D. Carey, of Prospect; a sister, Kitty Steede, of Shelbyville.  She also leaves her faithful companion, “Little Bit” to mourn her passing.

Ms Nancy Norman, age 57, of Nashville, formerly of Shelbyville, died December 18, 2009, in an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Buddy Norman will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11 AM Tuesday until time of service.

She was born December 20, 1951, in Waukegan, Illinois, to the late Charles H. and Betty Allison Norman.  She was a Licensed Social Worker with the State of Tennessee, and attended the Church of Christ.

She is survived by two brothers, Buddy Norman, and his wife Tricia, of Columbia, and Greg Norman, of Shelbyville; nieces and nephews, Julie Norman Beck, and her husband Vic, John Paul Norman, and his wife Jaime, Jill Norman Fields, and her husband Billy, Tav Norman, Sara Norman, and Jessica Alexander; great nieces and nephews, Johnny Norman, Scout Norman, Lilli Beck, Charlie Beck, Abbi Alexander and Miles Alexander.

 Mr. Robert Paul Gordon, age 70, of Lynchburg, died Monday, December 21, 2009, at the Veterans Hospital in Nashville. 

Memorial services will be 2 PM Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Per his request, his remains were cremated. 

Visitation will be on hour prior to service Sunday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. 

He was born June 22, 1939, in Bedford County, to the late Clyde Martin and Ruby Ralston Gordon.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War.  He was a retired electrician, member of the VFW, American Legion and the Moose Lodge.  He was a member of Smiths Chapel Methodist Church. 

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Kellett-Gordon, of Lynchburg; a son, Marty Ray Gordon, and his wife Lorri, of Shelbyville, and a daughter, Paula Williams, of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Justin Ryan Gordon and Jody Martin Gordon.  He also leaves many friends and extended family to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be 3-8 PM Wednesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

 He was born September 2, 1965, in Bedford County to Juanita Peoples Pope and the late Prentice Cooper Pope. He was a welder and attended the Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Jay D. Pope, and his mother Melissa Smotherman Gongola, of Shelbyville; aunts, Betty Ann Pope, Carolyn Travis, Sandra Peoples, and Brenda Lovvorn; uncles, Willis Pope, Thomas D. Pope, Haywood Pope, Alton Pope, Bobby Peoples, John O’Neal Peoples, and Tommy Peoples.  

He was preceded in death by his father and aunt, Audell Peoples and uncles, Jack Pope and Charles Pope. Also preceding him in death are grandparents, Clarence (Doc) and Ruby Russell Pope and John L. and Annella Henderson Peoples.
