Mrs. Edith L. Redd Parker, age 78, of Shelbyville, died Monday, August 3, 2009, at her daughter’s home after an extended illness. 

Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, August 6, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Reverend Dan Reed will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. 

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. 

She was born October 6, 1930, in Bedford County, to the late Garrett and Myrtice Cleek Redd.  She was retired from Empire Pencil (Sanford Corporation) and was a member of Shelbyville Mills Church of Christ. 

She was a wonderful Mom. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Parker in 2007, and a sister, Glendon Frost. 

She is survived four daughters, Cathy Ryan, Carolyn Napper, and her husband Jimmy, Cindy Walker, and her husband Eddie, and Sandra Guffey, and her husband Tommy, all of Shelbyville; two sons, William Calvin Parker, and his wife Billie Marie, and Kevin Eugene Parker, all of Shelbyville; two brothers, Billy Redd of Shelbyville, and John Redd, of Lewisburg; a sister, Iris Bradford, of Shelbyville; eleven grandchildren, Eric Anderson, Chad Napper, Carolee Napper, Ben Parker, Donnie Parker, Jennifer Mathews, Leeann Reid, Michael Walker, and Eddie Walker, Jr; fifteen great grandchildren, Chris Overcast, Lindsey Parker, Alicia Anderson, Caitlyn Napper, Carissa Rutherford, Tyler Parker, Erica Parker, Jessica Parker, Brayden Parker, James Parker, Hannah Mathews, Haley Mathews, Caleb Reid, Ryan Reid, and Ethan Parker; two great great grandchildren, Leah Nichole Guffey and Jayden Hathcock. 

She leaves behind her faithful and devoted companion, “Missy”.

Mr. Gerald Malone Patton, age 74, of Shelbyville, died Friday, August 7, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center.

Graveside services will be 2 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Willow Mount Cemetery.

Visitation will be 12-1:30 Tuesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

He was born February 28, 1935, in Shelbyville, to the late Robert M. and Annie Mae Haislip Patton.  He was retired from Arnold Engineering Development Center and a former member of the Tennessee National Guard.

He is survived by an uncle and several cousins.

Reverend Charles E. Brown, age 75, of Shelbyville, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 10, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, August 14, 2009, at Edgemont Baptist Church.  Reverends Bobby McGee, Doug Brown, and Doug O’Brien will officiate, with burial to follow in Melson Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM Thursday at Edgemont Baptist Church.

He was born February 23, 1934, in Mena, Arkansas, to the late Frank L. and Mary Evangeline Harriss Brown.  He attended Belmont University and Walker Jr. College. He was a minister for over 45 years, presently serving at Twin Oaks Baptist Church.  He served on the Credential’s Committee with the Tennessee Baptist Convention where he was an active member.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gaile Dexter Brown, of Shelbyville; son, Douglas Frank Brown, and his wife Laurie Williams, of Athens, Alabama; daughter, Deborah Brown mason, and her husband Marty, of Decatur, Alabama; sisters, Gertrude Esry, of Independence, Missouri and Mary Bush, of Story, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Laura Gaile Mason, Stephanie Marie Brown, Deborah Caroline Brown, Miranda Mason Jones, Staff Sergeant Earl Mason (United States Air Force), Senior Airman Samuel Mason (United States Air Force), Rebeca Frye and Sara Catherine Frye; five great grandchildren, Jayden, Haley, Keaton, Tanner, and Carson.

Martha R. Porter, age 54, of Shelbyville, died Monday, August 10, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 2 Pm Friday, August 14, 2009, at Bird Street Church Of Christ.  Anthony Booker will be eulogist, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM Thursday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel and again Friday one hour prior to service at the church.

She was born March 19, 1955, in Lincoln County, to Will A. Porter, of Shelbyville, and the late Audie Lee Greer Porter.  She worked with Eaton Corporation before their closure, and was  a member of Bird Street Chirch of Christ.

In addition to her father, she is survived by a son, Will Debonaire Porter and a daughter, Nicole Porter, both of Shelbyville; three brothers, Roger, Larry, and Ronnie Porter, all of Shelbyville; five sisters, Carolyn Reese and Marcia Porter, both of Shelbyville, JoAnn Pitts, of Murfreesboro, Robbie Nelson, of Newton, Georgia, and Shelia Boleyjack, of Hendersonville.

Mr. Robert A. Calahan, age 53, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center. 

A private service will held at a later date. 

He was born March 28, 1956, in Bedford County, to the late Robert Morris and Virginia Walls Calahan.  He was a computer technician with Standard Register. 

He is survived by two sisters, Wanda Damron, and her husband Brent, of Shelbyville, and Sandra Kilgore, and her husband Dwayne, of Murfreesboro; a brother, Earl M. Calahan and his wife Shirley, of Nashville.

Mr. James Ferrell, Sr., age 60, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

Funeral services will be 11AM Friday, August 21, 2009, at Noah's Ark Baptist Church.  Reverend William Rhoton will officiate, with burial to follow in the Farrar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

He was born April 9, 1949, in Coffee County, to the late J.D. and Velma Virginia Harpole Ferrell.  He worked with Jostens Incorporated until failing health forced his retirement.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Mixon.

He is survived by two sons, James Ferrell, Jr. and his wife Carolyn, of Normandy, and Christopher Lee Burks, and his wife Paula, of Shelbyville; two daughters, Jennifer Danielle Gill, and her husband Clinton, of the Flat Creek Community, and Lisa Ann Bush, and her husband Kelly, of Murfreesboro; six brothers, Ray Ferrell, and his wife Janie, of Normandy, Robert Ferrell, of Georgia, Jimmy Ferrell, and his wife Sally, of Bristol, Tennessee, Ricky Ferrell, and his wife Tammy, of Winchester, Mike Ferrell, and his wife Tammy, of Tullahoma, and Ronald Ferrell, of Winchester; two sisters, Sandy Conn, and her husband Anthony, of Tullahoma, and Linda Crawley, and her husband Ray, of Manchester; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Mr. William “Bill” Sherrill, age 75, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, August 29, 2009, at First United Methodist Church.  Reverend Dr. Lloyd Doyle will officiate.  Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Gipson Cemetery in Alto, Tennessee, in Franklin County.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Masonic Services will be held during the Friday night visitation.

He was born September 11, 1933, in Huntsville, Alabama, to the late Ollie Harrison and Myrtle Hilyard Sherrill.  He was retired from Lucas Industries in 1988, and opened Cinnamon Ridge Bed and Breakfast and Cinnamon Ridge Blinds in 1990.  He was Past Master of the Mason Lodge in Jacksonville, Florida, member of the Al Menah Shriners and Scottish Rites.  He was a member of the Shelbyville Breakfast Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow.  He was an active member of First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Ann Garner Sherrill, of Shelbyville; a daughter, Carolanne Dallman, of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister, Carolyn Quillin, of Huntsville, Alabama; two grandchildren, Ashley and Amy Dallmann.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Argie Cooper Library.

The Shelbyville Breakfast Rotary Club will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
