Mrs. Virginia Broadway Richardson, age 77, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at Heritage Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, November 1, 2008, at First United Methodist Church.  Reverend Dr. Lloyd Doyle will officiate, with burial to follow in Mount Auburn Church Cemetery in Clifton, Tennessee.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service Saturday at the church.

She was born April 4, 1931, in Perry County, Tennessee, to the late Grady and Eula Smith Broadway.  She was retired from the Job Placement Training Association with the State of Tennessee. She was a member of Eastern Star, substitute teacher, and an avid bridge player.  She was member of the Board of Directors of Farm Bureau, United Methodist Church Women and a member of First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Richardson in 2005, and a daughter, Brenda Faye Richardson.

She is survived by two sons, Randy (Ellen) Richardson, of Madison, Alabama and Rondal Richardson, of Nashville; a daughter, Ginger Robinson, of Athens, Tennessee; sister, Essie King, of Clifton, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Brian (Susanne) Richardson, Kevin Richardson, Michele Richardson, Abby Robinson, and Phillip Robinson

Mr. Fred Harrison, age 78, of Shelbyville, died Friday, October 31, 2008, at Bedford County Nursing Home.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at 1 PM, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Crowell’s Chapel Cemetery in the Halls Mill Community.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 from 4-8 PM, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

He was born May 23, 1930 in the Wheel Community of Bedford County, to the late Frank O’Neal Harrison and Martha Gladys Wortham Harrison. He taught Sunday School at First United Methodist Church. He also owned and operated Fred’s Bookkeeping and Tax Service for 40 years. He was a skilled furniture maker and a school teacher. He was a member of the City Council for two terms, on the Board of County Commissioner for 12 years, he was a member of the Breakfast Rotary. He was a board member for the Senior Citizens, Solid Waste Authority, Tennessee Vocational Rehab, a Mason, and an auditor with the Tennessee Comptroller office.  He attended First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Douglas Harrison.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jean Harrison, of Shelbyville; three daughters, Kenda Harrison, Cindy (Bill) Herring, and Becky Williams, all of Shelbyville; four grandchildren, Stasha McConnell, Chris Fox, Dawn Dye, and Scott Buie; five great grandchildren, Avery McConnell, Jason Fox, Josh Fox, Dominic Buie, and Kayleigh Dye.

Mrs. Mildred Williams Locke, age 89, of Bell Buckle, died Saturday, November 1, 2008, at her home after an extended illness.

Memorial service will be 2 PM Sunday, November 9, 2008, at Bell Buckle United Methodist Church.  Reverend Beth Ezell and Reverend Buddy Royston will officiate.

A private burial will be held in Hazel Cemetery in Bell Buckle.

The family will receive visitors at the church following the service.

She was born October 10, 1919, in Bell Buckle, to the late David Cleophas Williams and Daisy Jane Anthony Williams.  She was founding president of the Tennessee Valley Quilter’s Association in 1980, which now has over 900 members.  She taught the art of fine quilt making to over 1000 students during a fifteen years span.  She held membership in the Bell Buckle United Methodist Church.

She was married to Ollie Edgar Locke for over fifty years before his death.

She is survived by a son, Edgar David Locke, and his wife, Carolyn, of Shelbyville; a daughter, Peggy Lock Baldwin, and her husband Robert, of Bell Buckle and Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Rachel Bell Hancock and Robert Scott Saunders; three great grandchildren, Ryan Hancock, Riley Hancock, and Malorie Saunders; a brother, Fred Williams, and his wife Libby, of Murfreesboro; a sister, Norma Williams Jernigan, of Manchester.

Mrs. Mattie L. Carlton, age 81, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, November 05, 2008, at Bedford County Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Friday, November 7, 2008, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Scott Yates will officiate, with burial to follow in Cothran Cemetery in the Rover Community.

 Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

 She was born February 27, 1927 in Bedford County to the late Richard Poplin Turner and Eura L. Turner. She was a retired sales clerk with K-Mart and a member of Kingdom Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Carlton in 2005, and a brother Joe Osborn Turner.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Finis) Arnold, of Shelbyville; two sons, Kenneth (Sharon) Carlton, of Shelbyville, and Tommy (Joyce) Carlton, of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren, Jeremy Arnold, Pamela Arnold, Madalyn Carlton, and Kit Carlton.

Mrs. Ruth Eleanor Taylor, age 83, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at Heritage Medical Center. 

Graveside services will be 12 Pm Saturday at Willow Mount Cemetery.  Reverend Charles Pope will officiate. 

Visitation will be 10-11:30 AM Saturday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. 

She was born June 29, 1925, in Batavia, New York, to the late Maxwell and Lydia Powell Gillette.  She was a retired Home Health Caregiver, loved playing bingo, and attended the Methodist Church. 

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Clark. 

She is survived by a daughter, Tamra Bentler, of Shelbyville; two brothers, Bob and Jerry Gillette, both of New York; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Ruth Wright, age 71, of Shelbyville, died Monday, November 10, 2008, at Heritage Medical Center.

A private graveside service will take place in Head Springs Cemetery in Belfast.

She was born March 3, 1937, in Moore County, to the late Forster and Elizabeth Todd Crowell. She was a retired nurse’s assistant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wright, in 2000.

She is survived by a step-son,  Mitchell Wright of Wartrace; three step daughters, Connie Prince and Gracie Helton, both of Shelbyville, and Peggy Glascoe, of Tullahoma; a sister, Clara Howard, of Fayetteville.

Mr. William Fred Dugger, age 45, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Heritage Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, November 14, 2008 at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Emmett Arnold will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Bomar Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-8 PM Thursday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

He was born August 22, 1963 in Bedford County, to Ralph Morgan Dugger and Shirley Segroves Yarborough, both of Shelbyville. He was employed with Save-A-Lot and Calsonic for 16 years, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Shelbyville.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Paula McBride Dugger, of Shelbyville; two sons, John Thomas and Heath Dugger, both of Shelbyville; three brothers, Mike (Gracie) Dugger, Barry Dugger, and Chris Dugger, all of Shelbyville; two sisters, Patricia Crowson and Joan Melanie Gibbs, both of Shelbyville.

Mrs. Gordon S. (Viola) Warren, age 91, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at home after an extended illness. 

Funeral service will be 11 AM Friday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Reverend Charles Williams and Reverend Tim McGehee will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. 

Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

She was born May 5, 1917, in Winchester, Tennessee, to the late Johnny and Ethel Majors Spray.  She was a homemaker and member of Gateway Church of God.  She loved to play rook and was a loving grandmother. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon S. Warren, in 1984.  She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Ethel Jeanette Kelley, Margaret Faye Greb, and Barbara Linda Cook.  A brother and sister, William “Buck” Spray and Nell Majors, also preceded her in death, as well as three grandchildren, Teresa Warren, Phillip Hut, and Viola Ann Greb. 

She is survived by two sons, Gordon (Lana) Warren, of Shelbyville, and Danny (Gail) Warren, of Murfreesboro; two daughters, Joyce Ann (Charles) Gibbs, of Shelbyville, and Nancy (James) Eads, of Tullahoma; nineteen grandchildren, Susan Pasion, Patty Hut, David Hut, Mark Greb, Randy Greb, Susan Sutton, Starr Messick, Michael Messick, Carol Anne Webb, Robin Warren, Chad Sons, Richie Sons, Scott Sons, Jessica Eads, April Warren, Danny Warren, Jr., Billy Warren, Jerry Bain, and Randy Bain; twenty six great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.

Mr. Willie A. “Hammie” Harris, age 77, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at his home after an extended illness. 

Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, November 16, 2008, at Galilee Primitive Baptist Church.  Reverend Robert Stevenson will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to service Sunday at the church. 

He was born December 14, 1930, in Coffee County, the late Jesse F. and Clara Mai Thompson Harris.  He was a retired employee of the Baptist Sunday School Publishing Board in Nashville, Tennessee, and a member of Galilee Primitive Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife, Rubie L. Harris, of Shelbyville; a brother, Kenneth Brown, of Albion, Michigan; two daughters, Tammy Crawford, of Nashville, and Kysa Scott, of Birmingham, Alabama; a son, Adrian Scott, of Stanton, California; four grandchildren.

Mr. Lee Marlin Rogers, age 81, of Shelbyville, died Friday, November 14, 2008, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. 

Funeral services will be 3 PM Sunday, November 16, 2008, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Reverend Kevin Minchey and Reverend Bobby McGee will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. 

Visitation will be 12-3 PM Sunday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. 

He was born May 14, 1927, in Beech Grove, Tennessee, to the late Eris Jessie and John Anna Brown Rogers.  He was retired from Empire Pencil after 45 years, a veteran of the United States Army, an active member of the VFW, and a member of First Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Christine Harris Rogers, of Shelbyville; a son, Rodney, and his wife, Dawn Phillips Rogers, of Shelbyville; a grandson, Brett Rogers.

Isabelle Ross Woodruff, a 52-year resident of Shelbyville, died peacefully at the Heritage Medical Center on Sunday morning, November 23, 2008.  Mary Isabelle Ross was born on December 13, 1916 in Hampshire, Maury County, Tennessee, the youngest child of Carl Anderson Ross and Inez Bourland Ross.  Her father was a long-time banker in Maury County, first in Hampshire and later in Columbia, where he moved his young family and established himself as a community leader over many years.  She attended public schools in Columbia and graduated from high school there in 1935.  Later that year she married Charles Marsh Woodruff, and they began their 64-year adventure together that included Charlie’s professional positions in Columbia and Mount Pleasant, Clarkdale, AZ, Chattanooga, Nashville, Lewisburg, and since 1956, Shelbyville.  Her adult life was characterized by her love of her family, and her commitment to her community. 

She was a pillar of the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, were she served as a member of the Board of Trustees, the Pastor Parish Committee, Circle IV, United Methodist Women, and Church Women United. She also was a Woman’s Club member and former president, and a member of the Isaac Shelby Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution.  She worked as an enumerator for the US Census in 1950, 1960, and 1970.  Isabelle was an avid reader, a member of the Library Book Club, an adventurous traveler, and a staunch Democrat. 

She is survived by two sons and a daughter: Dr. William Hamilton Woodruff and his wife Nancy Alice David of Santa Fe, NM; Dr. Charles Marsh Woodruff, Jr. and his wife Patricia Margaret Speier of Austin, TX; and Isabelle Lynn Woodruff Hulan and her husband Henry Hulan III of Shelbyville.  Five grandchildren include: Hank Hulan and his wife Leesa Hinson of Nashville; Carl Hulan and his wife Liat Meller, of Salt Lake City, UT; Will Woodruff of Santa Fe, NM; Harper Hulan and his wife Nancy Franklin Hulan of Louisville, KY; and Katy Woodruff Hannon and her husband Aaron Hannon of Santa Fe, NM; her two great-grandchildren include Anna Hinson Hulan and Horton Wiley Hannon.  She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, James Bourland Ross, and Louise Ross Webster, her husband, Charles, and a son, James Ross Woodruff. 

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 25th.  Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26th at First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville.  Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Columbia at 2 p.m. 

Pallbearers will be Henry Hulan III, Hank Hulan, Carl Hulan, Harper Hulan, James Roy Lambert, and Fred Shofner.  Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church’s Memorial Fund, or to the Argie Cooper Public Library in Shelbyville.

MS Mary (Mae) K. Wade, age 89, of Chicago, formerly of Christiana, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at Boulevard Terrace Rehab and Nursing Center in Murfreesboro.

Funeral services will be 12 PM Saturday, November, 29, 2008, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Frederick Wade will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11 AM Saturday until service time.

She was born November 7, 1919, in Christiana, Tennessee, to the late Miller and Jennie Ann Wade.  She lived and worker in Chicago, Illinois, for 65 years before failing health forced to return to Middle Tennessee, to be close to family.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Wade, John Wade, and Melvin Wade.

She is survived by a brother, Fred Wade, and his wife, Mary, of Christian, Tennessee; a devoted niece, Vanessa Nelson, of Christiana; devoted friend, Dorothy Daniels, and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, and other relatives.
