Mrs. Bessie Stone, age 76, of Shelbyville, formerly of Shoal Indiana, died Sunday, December 7, 2008, at Heritage Medical Center.

Funeral services were held in Shoal, Indiana, by Queen-Lee Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dorris Shapard Sanders, age 87, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at Glen Oaks Convalescent Center.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend George Jones will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11AM until service time Saturday.

She was born September 23, 1921, in Bedford County, to the late Lewis Shapard and Bess Noland Shapard.  She was retired as Assistant County Supervisor for The Farmers Home Administration and a member of First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Bell, of Venice, California, and a son, Daryl Sanders, of Nashville; two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Margaret H. Wilkerson, age 80, passed from this life Thursday December 11, 2008 at her home in Shelbyville, on the same hill she was born on near Cates Street, which was named for her ancestors. Margaret was baptized a member of the Eastview Baptist Church years ago along with her late husband, James Ray Wilkerson, who preceeded her in passing from this life in 2002. Betty Theresa Wilkerson, a daughter, preceded her in death in 1981. She and Ray both had retired from Empire Pencil Company. Margaret was a thirty year charter member of the Women at Moose.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday December 15, 2008, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Dr. Steve Lynn will officiate, with burial in Willow Mount Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4 – 8 PM Sunday.         

Margaret was the daughter of the late Robert Samuel “Bo” Cates and the former Nora Loretta McGregor. She was a granddaughter of the late Finis Milton Cates and the former Belle Patterson of Shelbyville; and the late Phillip McGregor and the former Donnie Belle Moulder of McMinnville.  

Survivors include two sons and a daughter. They are: James Michael (Janice) Wilkerson of Palm Bay, Florida; Judy Renee (Dr. Steve) Lynn of Tullahoma; and David Leslie (Brenda) Wilkerson of Shelbyville. Margaret also had seven grandchildren, six grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Josephine “Jo” Wright, age 79, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, December 14, 2008, at Heritage Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Reverend Dr. Lloyd Doyle and Reverend Bobby McGee will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery 

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. 

She was born September 8, 1929, in Bedford County, to the late Claude and Bernice Phillips Harris.  She was retired from Arnold Engineering Development Center and a member of First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kittyjo Landers, in 1980, and five sisters, Aliene Stacey, Dorothy Sierman, Clara Carter, Jane Harris, and Faye DeLoach. 

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Herman Wright, of Shelbyville; a son, Dwight, and his wife Tricia, Landers, of Shelbyville;  step-daughter, Patsy Taylor, of Shelbyville; two sisters, Mary Ann Cerami, of Port Arthur, Texas, and Claudia Mangelsdorf, of Franklin, Tennessee; a grandson, Emmett Dwight Landers, II, and a step granddaughter, Carrie Brooke Simmons. 

Memorials may be made to the Argie Cooper Library, 100 South Main Street, Shelbyville, Tennessee, 37160.

Mrs. Barbara Newman Tilford, age 87, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, December 18, 2008, at her daughters home in Fairview after an extended illness. 

Memorial service will be 3 PM Saturday, December 20, 2008, at the Episcopal church of The Redeemer.  Father Peter Whalen will officiate.  Per her request, her remains were cremated, and burial will be in Willow Mount Cemetery. 

The family will receive visitors Saturday, one hour prior to service at the church. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Henry Cannon Tilford, Jr. in 2007. 

She was born June 17, 1921, in Cooperstown, Pennsylvania, to the late Somers and Jean Hutchison Newman. She was a member of the Episcopal church of The Redeemer. 

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Tilford Barnard, of Fairview, and a son, Henry Cannon Tilford III, of Lewisburg; a granddaughter, Courtney Suzanne Hall.

Mr. Ray Charles Campbell, age 51, of Shelbyville, died Monday, December 22, 2008, at Heritage Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 12 noon Friday, December 26, 2008, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service Friday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. 

He was born July 24, 1957, in Bedford County, to the late Joe and Ida Lanier Campbell.  He is survived by five brothers, Faye (Linda) Campbell, of Nashville, Ernest (Linda) Campbell, Ronnie (Vickie) Campbell, Paul (Debra) Campbell, and Tony Campbell, all of Shelbyville; two sisters, Carolyn (Bobby) Snelling, of Phoenix City, Alabama, and Beverley Campbell, of Shelbyville.

Mr. Robert Edward “Cracker-Jack” Sparrow, age 51, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, December 21, 2008, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, December 28, 2008, at St. James Primitive Baptist Church in Lewisburg. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Saturday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel and again one hour prior to service Sunday at the church. 

He was born October 27, 1957, in Shelbyville, to Louise Parson Sparrow, of Shelbyville, and the late Robert Earl Sparrow.  He was a graduate of Tennessee Sate University with a major in music.  He was a member of St. James Primitive Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Sparrow. 

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Elease Sparrow Bailey, and her husband Fletcher, of Shelbyville.

Mrs. Katie Beatrice Smith, age 85, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, December 25, 2008, at Heritage Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday at Scott United Methodist Church.  Dr. Robin Kimbrough will officiate, with burial to follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.

She was born September 18, 1923, in Bedford County, to the late Newton and Lena Frazier Tillman.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Smith in 1988, and was a faithful member of Scott United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by a daughter, Veleria Cleveland, of Shelbyville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Annie Clyde Jones, age 69, of Shelbyville, died Friday, December 26, 2008, at Heritage Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at Galilee Primitive Baptist Church.  Reverend Robert Stevenson will be eulogist, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. 

Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at Feldhaus Memorial chapel and again one hour prior to service Tuesday at the church. 

She was born July 1, 1939, in Bedford County, to the late B.W. and Lucille Anderson Britton.  She was retired from Tyson Food and was a member of Galilee Primitive Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her husband, Wilbert Jones, of Shelbyville; a daughter, Polly Rankins, of Shelbyville; a sister, Renaecker (Horace) Arnold, of Manchester; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mrs. Willie Lou Hayes, age 73, of Manchester, formerly of Shelbyville, died December 31, 2008, at United Regional Nursing Home in Manchester.

Memorial services will be 2 PM Sunday, January 11, 2009, at West End Methodist Church.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to service Sunday at the church.

She was born July 3, 1935, in Pulaski, Tennessee.  She was retired from the Cotton Mill in Pulaski.  She was preceded in death by a son, Donny Hazelwood.

She is survived by three sons, Randy, David, and Jackie Hazelwood, all of Shelbyville; two daughters, Danna Ann Hazelwood and Diane Hazelwood, both of Shelbyville; a sister, Lucy Roberts, of Shelbyville; twelve step children, and eight grandchildren.
